"STUDIO DENIM JACKET"
A relaxed-fit denim garment designed to bring comfort while delivering a timeless essence inspired by floral blooms. This piece celebrates the third read, an aspect of design accomplished by meticulous material selection and careful hand-crafting.

ELEMENTS OF THE GARMENT CONSTRUCTION
A pattern was obtained from an online resource. Most of the pieces were edited in Adobe Illustrator prior to printing a 1:1 pattern, other pieces were altered manually as the garment was constructed.
Several types of denim were considered for the project. It was important to find a material that provides comfort, a good sense of detail and a tonality that worked well with the idea of radiating a cheerful mood while not being overly "loud."
A big aspect of the project was to embrace nature through details. While walking on the community garden one day, I became intrigued by a Pink Jasmine in full bloom. The amount of detail and color it provided gave me a sense of joy.
The liner fabric was sourced online from a vendor that had a surplus of vintage fabrics. The motifs matched the Pink Jasmine perfectly, and the marine-blue background complemented that color of the denim.
The garment construction was done with a. black thread, and the extra "pop" of detail was done with yellow top-stitching.
GARMENT CREATION PROCESS
The fabrics were pre-washed and the pattern was fit on the material according to the desired grain.

The steps of overlocking, stitching pieces together and top-stitching were approached independently to each piece throughout the project. The construction process required a lot of back and forth between these steps to ensure the fit was appropriate.

Once the garment was almost finished, the last steps involved finalizing the decorative topstitching and hand-sewing the button holes with the yellow thread.
